Finding Freedom in One Session: How IEMT Helped John B Neutralise a Lifelong Anxiety
John B. struggled with an unwanted thought his entire life. During our initial interaction, he made it known that he never had anyone else aware of his condition. After all, it’s an internal message loop not usually projected outward—in essence, to him—an unwanted thought. He wasn’t good enough. It limited him in his job, his communication. So when we talked, I learned that he experienced talking therapies and positive affirmations by the time he met me. Yet this intrinsic belief never changed; although it could change in its emotional response, it remained solid and tangible. At least until now. Enter Integrative Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT).
When John  entered my office, he was like any other newbie—cautiously optimistic yet open to the experience of IEMT rapid transformation. He explained that every time it got the better of him, the limiting belief echoed down his spine like negative gut resonance—and the next thing he knew, he was working against himself instead of empowering himself during work-meeting presentation-type scenarios.
I reassured John that with IEMT, there was no more talking about it for months—or even at all. It goes straight to the issue at hand by remapping the neurology associated with the memory and correlated emotions. You see, memories are more than connected thoughts; they are real physical occurrences embedded in our bodies felt sensorially and behind our eye movements (and beyond). Thus, by using specific eye movements, we can successfully reprocess traumatic memories and neutralise any adverse emotional responses associated with them—without experiencing the original trauma again.
John was intrigued but didn’t get lost down the rabbit hole. We began the session with the finite kinaesthetic resonance (the gut feeling) and gut thought/negative epiphany. Then, I guided him through a series of specific eye movements that are at the core of IEMT for anxiety and low self-esteem.
It was a gradual process, consistent and systematic. John didn’t even have to tell me what happened to give him this negative revelation; he just had to concentrate on the reality of the present. He appreciated this about IEMT because so many therapies make you divulge your most personal secrets, and IEMT can essentially eliminate that need.
At our halfway point, after about six sets of eye movements, I asked John if he could access the old belief trigger of “I’m not good enough.” First confused and then shocked, he scanned his inner dialogue for any remnants of that emotional resonance that would once characterise any response to change—and found nothing.
“It’s…it’s not there,” he said incredulously as he continued scanning. “The thought comes into my head, but it’s just a thought now. It has no power. That heavy feeling in my stomach is completely neutralised.” The intensity of the unwanted thought and surrounding energy had been dissolved. The limiting belief had rendered itself as just a fleeting nuisance—with no substance.
It took one session in one hour.
When John  left my office believing he’d never feel it again—and for the record, we followed up a week later—and he told me that all these situations that would paralyse him with self-doubt about almost anything of which he’d be an expert now became less consequential and more manageable, for good. He felt a freedom he’d never felt before. Calm. Confident. Alive again.
My experience with John is but one of many that I’ve cross-referenced with others that proclaim how IEMT offers rapid change. If you’ve ever struggled with unwanted limiting beliefs, phobias, or performance anxiety, remember—you don’t have to suffer for long. Almost everything can be worked out in one session of IEMT therapy!
