How to Overcome Fear with Hypnotherapy and IEMT
Tired of Fear Running Your Life? How Your Mind Can Be Your Greatest Ally
Imagine this—your heart starts racing. Your palms sweat. A wave of utter horror comes over you. But there is no immediate threat. There is no tiger chasing after you. You simply see a little spider in the corner of your room. You are about to get up and give a presentation. You just booked a flight. I
f this sounds like you, then you understand that fear and anxiety aren’t necessarily logical; instead, they are based on what feels, in that moment, like the end of the world. And instead, they can constrict the world around you so much that you find yourself avoiding any situation that could potentially bring you joy or opportunity.
But there’s hope. You don’t have to feel this way. These overwhelming sensations are not permanent sentences to existence. Instead, they are often residual programs running subconsciously in your mind that need an upgrade—and with the right tools, those upgrades can happen.
How Can Hypnotherapy and IEMT Help with Fear?
Your rational mind understands. It knows the spider won’t hurt you, or that the people watching you really aren’t out to get you. But your subconscious mind is illogical; it’s where your emotions live, where your conditioned habits exist, and where trauma lives. It’s the part of you that learned a long time ago to be scared—usually as a child—and while it’s only trying to protect you, it doesn’t help in the long run!
Clinical hypnotherapy and Integrative Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT) are powerful, solution-focused approaches that work directly with the subconscious to resolve these issues at their root.
- Hypnotherapy puts you in a relaxed, focused state which allows your subconscious to be more open to positive suggestion. Think of it as a way to defrag your brain’s hard drive, so when we’re done, new, calmer, confident reactions to previous stimuli can be installed.
- IEMT is an ingenious approach to process and essentially ‘discharge’ the overwhelming negative feelings associated with old memories. Certain eye movements allow the brain to reprocess the memory, essentially eliminating the excess fear and revealing the neutral occurrence beneath.
Together, they form a potent combination to not just manage fear, but to genuinely eliminate its power over you.
Real Change for Real People: Two Quick Stories
I once worked with a woman who had a crippling fear of spiders (arachnophobia). She couldn’t even think about spiders. Panic would set in at the mere thought of a spider or seeing a cobweb. Through our session, we discovered the initial sensitising event—a childhood scare that her mind had magnified over decades. Using hypnotherapy and IEMT for phobias, we rewired that automatic panic response. Soon, she was able to calmly usher a spider out of her house with a glass and paper. The relief and freedom she felt were incredible.
Another client came to me suffering from extreme fear of public speaking. He was due to be the best man at his best friend’s wedding, and the thought of standing in front of 100 people filled him with dread. His fear wasn’t about the speech itself; it was rooted in a memory of being humiliated in school. Using IEMT, we quickly processed the emotions from that old memory. Combined with hypnotherapy to build his confidence and anchor a state of calm, he was able to deliver a brilliant, heartfelt speech. He later told me it was one of the proudest moments of his life.
These stories aren’t unique. This transformative work applies to so many fears, including:
- Hypnotherapy for fear of flying
- Hypnotherapy for fear of driving and specifically the Hypnotherapy for fear of driving test. I love this as I am an ex grade 6 ADI, ROSPA Gold advanced driver and was shortlisted to be a Civilian driving instructor for West Midlands Police
- Hypnotherapy for fear of needles
- Hypnotherapy for fear of heights
- Hypnotherapy for fear of dogs
The common thread? The fear is almost always bigger than the present-day trigger. It’s an echo from the past. And we can quiet that echo.
Imagine Your Life Without That Fear
What would you do if that fear wasn’t there?
- Would you book that holiday and enjoy the flight?
- Would you confidently drive to new places without panic?
- Would you drive confidently and safely on your driving test?
- Would you volunteer for that presentation at work?
- Would you finally go to the dentist without a week of anxiety beforehand?
This isn’t about just “coping.” It’s about freedom. It’s about getting back to being you.
